Frisbee Fail

I feel like this has been the longest week of my life. Please weekend, get here soon or at least provide me with some entertainment like a bear in a Shriners hat riding a unicycle. My imagination gets away from me from time-to-time, but that would still be rad.

Ideally I should be posting at the close of each day but as life/True Blood happens I can only do my best to keep up. Wednesdays are usually pretty lame for me since my boyfriend goes climbing and it’s my only night to watch junk TV (Teen Mom anyone?). So I tend to skip exercise in favour of couch lounging. Today I am proud to say was not (totally) like that. At lunch I played ultimate frisbee. I want to address Ultimate frisbee with one sentence: Dammit it’s hard work, especially with no subs. Oh and I also got smoked by a frisbee where my unibrow may be if I didn’t wax my eyebrows. Yes it was hilarious and you do not care if I’m okay.

When I returned from work I logged another half hour of circuit training with my Nike Training Club App and I am going to be sore tomorry.

  • Walk to and from work: 1PT
  • Dinner at home – 1PT
  • Ultimate Frisbee – 1PT
  • No Alcohol – 1PT
Total: 4PTS
Bringing my total going into Thursday to 24PTS. I’m going to have to bring it tomorrow and Friday morning!

Today my blog got 100 hits! I know I’ve said this before but  thanks again to everyone that reads my inane ramblings. I hope I help your week go by a little quicker.

Fancy Footwork

On a Roll (mmm carbs)

This could be a quick one because my memory of yesterday has already lapsed as it was a whirlwind of crap. Must be PTSD.

Last night was another excellent back bending and hash out with my friend Laura. The advanced b-bending classes are something I cannot speak highly enough of. Even if you’re not built like Gumby it’s still a really great way to strengthen your back, core, quads, shoulders. I like to play “what’s sore today” with a few friends after one of Jeff’s classes and today its my traps. However the pain in my traps could come from my gravity defying shoulders as they inch towards to my ears with every, ummm, set back I deal with 🙂

  • Yoga (regular) – 3PTS
  • No snack from break room – 1PT
  • No alcohol (could have used it) – 1PT
  • Walk from work – .5PT
  • Under 1500 cal – 1PT

Total: 6.5PTS

This brings me to 20PTS (13.5+6.5) at the almost half way point (again third grade math all star skills in full effect). Giving me Wednesday, Thursday and half of Friday to get to 50 which is definitely feasible.

I wonder where I should order fries from?

Have a Gumb-tastic Day!

5 Pieces of Pizza

Nom Nom Nom

Well despite the disparaging title this weekend was filled with activity, self-restraint and a little dehydration.

Saturday I decided I had too much blood and skin so I decided to go on a 12.5 km hike in the mountains. My guide book for the area rated this hike as “easy” and while the first 4 km were pretty flat the last two seriously climbed in elevation and I had to stop twice so my heart would slide back down my throat. However each rest wasn’t for more that a minute because I was being devoured by horse flies. You know the ones where you hit them and they DON’T DIE! Any way my boyfriend and I finished the 12.5 KM hike in 3.5 hours. We also ran out of water on the way down and had to drink from a stream, dummies. The summit of the hike was  a really pretty alpine meadow with lots of colourful wildflowers, definitely worth it. According to my MYPLATE on the LIVESTRONG website I burnt about 1266 calories… which I’m skeptical about but I’ll take it!

Sunday I got up at the crack of 8:30 AM and dragged myself to a Jeff Mah yoga class. Jeff is by far the best yoga teacher I have ever had and I am not alone in this sentiment. His teaching style is physical, informative and most importantly fun. You are also going to be a little sore the next day. Except for me, I’m a rock star :P. Sunday we worked into flying pigeon:

Yup totally looks like me

Take this image and bring the leg down about 80% and my head teetering perilously towards the lino floor and that’s what I looked like, also add grunting.

Okay zee points. I’m going to amalgamate the two days out of sheer laziness and my lunch break is almost over.

The Weekend

  • Yoga Non-Heated – 3PTS
  • Lunch at home (x2) – 2PTS
  • Dinner at home – 1PT
  • No alcohol – 1PT (I had to drink once this weekend, I’m only human)
  • Hiking for 3.5 hours – 3PTS (This is a new addition and I think this point allocation it quite fair)
  • Below 1500 calories- 1PT

Total: 11PTS

5.5 of these points will count towards Fryday.

Puentos Extras?

I did really good today, awesome in fact!

I also made a delicious salmon, honey goat cheese salad with quinoa and cleaned the entire condo. Yeah I CAN do it all (under certain circumstances, in a vacuum). Too bad, as per my own rules, it doesn’t count.

Or does it?

They ARE my rules. So I’m thinking I can bank points towards next week which will also encourage exercise and good behavior over the weekend. The most fair way I can think of doing this is keeping track over the weekend, halving them and adding them to the count for sweet sweet fryday.

Good Friday:

  • Walk to and from work – 1PT
  • No snack from the break room – 1PT
  • Hot Yoga – 5PTS
  • Dinner at home – 1PT
  • No Alcohol – 1PT
  • Work out 5 times this week – 2PTS
  • Under 1500 cal – 1PT
Total: 13PTS

Blah Blah Blah …

Good news! I went shopping today and when I went to pay the cashier gave me 40% everything. Okay, there’s more to this story, my sister works at Anthropologie and I have a friends and family discount card. The thing is my discount card is only good for 25% off merch and the lady at the till in a sheer act of blind benevolence granted me the 40% discount. Thanks clothes genie!

I was going somewhere with that. Oh yeah. Since last year I’ve gown down a dress size at Urban Outfitters. Or is Urban Outfitters fitting larger as their market expands? Actually I prefer not to know.

Uber-bagged today but I did my best:

  • AM Run 30 min – 2PTS
  • Brought lunch to work – 1PT
  • No snack from breakroom* – 1PT
  • No alcohol – 1PT
  • Under 1500 cal – 1PT
  • Walk to and from work** – 1PT
*There was a treat today but it was DQ kids day and I had to help the children
** I had to meet my sis at Chinook today after work but I can assure you we did plenty walking

Total: 7PTS

So going into Friday morning I have a measly 18PTS. If I make my morning run I will have worked out 5 times this week. That deserves a WOOT.

Like a Boss

But not really.

Yesterday wasn’t my best showing but I try not to dwell so here’s a high level overview of what went wrong: Pizza.

There, now you know. I do want to add one more note though; I did cut the pizza slice in half. Which I have never done, ever and that deserves a Bravo. Question: Did I use that semi colon correctly? Let me know.

Here’s the damage:

  • No snack from the break room – 1PT
  • Dinner made at home – 1PT
  • 30 min of circuit training – 1PT
  • No alcohol – 1PT

Total: 4 PTS

Bringing my total for the week to, drum roll please, 11 PTS. Let’s just say I’ve done better and have high hopes for next week.

Have a great day!

Shouldn’t have left you without a dope beat to step to…

Sorry folks. As of today I promise to post more regularly. I was aiming for a post each day Sunday – Friday and that is still my goal but due to weddings/out of town-ness I found myself thinking I should post but somehow … didn’t. This is also likely due to the complete disregard I have had for my point earning over the past 4 days. Yikes. That being said, and due to the fact that I ate unearned fries (*coughs* twice) over the weekend I will happily forgo any fry consumption this Friday and instead turn to the carrot stick.

I returned from a weekend wedding in Rocky Mountain house with the same disappointment/guilt as I do after a weekend of binge drinking, resolving to take the next few weeks off to straighten up and fly right. Thus I have returned to my health and wellness path and hope to stay on track for the next few days? Stay tuned.

I want to note that I never think I look hideous or would call myself fat. I have however been meaning to lose about 7-10 lbs for the last almost decade. In the past year I have made great, unintended strides. I fell in love with yoga and started practicing 3-4 times a week and that has done some great things for me, including toning and building muscle. However, there is still a pesky layer of, how do I say this without sounding like I have an eating disorder?… insoluble in water compounds kicking around in certain areas. So I’ve decided to sound the start pistol for this endeavour. I’m going to give myself about 4 weeks to get it done. If I do great, if not fine but it’s now a goal and being tracked by the couple hundred of you (HOLY CRAP THANK YOU!) that have read this.

That was a bit of a rant so if you made it through, congrats. If it lulled you to sleep then you’re welcome.

Tuesday’s Points:

  • Brought lunch to work- 1PT
  • Ran at lunch (I hate doing this btw) 30 min- 2PT as it was before noon (love loop holes)
  • No treat from the break room – 1PT
  • No alcohol- 1PT
  • Evening strength training 30 min – 1PT
  • Below 1500 cal for the day- 1PT

Total: 7PTS

I realize I added another category but I found this great Nike APP for circuit/strength training that I really wanted to try out and holy moly was it ever hard. If you’re looking for it, it’s called the Nike Training Club and it’s free for download in the Apple App Store.

No more big gulps for this guy…
